The Essence of a soulful space.

A soulful space is more than its physical structure; it embodies warmth, history and the memories it holds. Unlike fleeting design trends, soulful interiors have an intangible quality—a sense of life that makes them timeless and unique.

As Le Corbusier famously said, “The home should be the treasure chest of living”. This philosophy guides our approach at Studio Indigo. We infuse our projects with personal touches, ensuring that every detail tells a story and reflects the essence of the owner.

We also believe that no home should feel “finished.” By leaving spaces intentionally at 90% completion, we allow our clients to continue evolving their space, adding layers over time that make it even more personal and meaningful.

The Bespoke approach: tailoring each space to its inhabitants

At the heart of every Studio Indigo project lies a deep understanding of the client. Listening is our foundation—we explore their memories, heritage and lifestyle, translating these elements into tangible, luxurious interiors that not only represent them but elevate their way of living.

For example: Belgravia Townhouse beautifully integrates the client’s collection of African art, setting it against a neutral palette with exotic fabrics and unexpected textures—a perfect blend of personal history and contemporary design.

Our bespoke approach ensures that no two projects are alike. Each design is like a thumbprint, reflecting the owner’s identity and the home’s architectural heritage.

The role of materials, textures, craftsmanship and personal collections

Customisation is the cornerstone of a truly bespoke interior. Our work is enriched by the incredible artisans who bring unique, handcrafted elements into our spaces, creating textures that can’t be replicated.

Craftsmanship has the power to tell stories—every handcrafted element carries a sense of history, exclusivity and artistry. We collaborate with talented artists to enhance interiors with custom finishes, such as:

  • Holland Park Villa features a bespoke vertical pendant by Lasvit, composed of individually hand-blown and hand-painted glass blocks. Each piece emits light differently, creating a stunning interplay of contemporary design within a historical Victorian villa.

We integrate clients’ personal collections, whether it be art, sculptures, or objects from travels, blending historical pieces with contemporary materials and furniture to create a harmonious fusion of old and new.

The balance between functionality and aesthetic expression

A home with soul isn’t just visually compelling—it must also function effortlessly for everyday living. Thoughtful space planning, intelligent layouts and architectural details are crucial in creating a home that is as practical as it is beautiful.

For example:

  • Kensington Terrace, a 2,000 sq. ft. residence, required intelligent spatial planning to maximize functionality. Through wrap-around layouts and seamless flow, we were able to enhance the sense of space, making it feel significantly larger while maintaining intimacy and warmth.

By integrating functionality with aesthetics, we ensure that every home we design is a true sanctuary

Conclusion: How Can Your Home Reflect Your Story?
