Studio Indigo worked with world-renowned fabric house, Chelsea Textiles, to create their flagship store located in the prestigious Pimlico Road. The successful collaboration with Chelsea Textiles and their team resulted in a space that truly reflects their ethos and houses their complete textiles and furniture range under one roof.
Chelsea Textiles is a family-run fabric and furniture house, providing beautiful embroidered and printed fabrics with strong historical roots spanning from the 17th and 18th Centu ries, through the mid-century to the modern day. The space spans more than 3,000 sq. ft over two floors, and the internal spaces have been created from the concrete shell with the external façade comprising a traditional look with the addition of wood panelling and a hand-painted logo against a dark green backdrop.
Internally, the project included an array of bespoke elements with a mix of contemporary and traditional design. The ground floor was carefully designed and curated to feel more like a home rather than a store so customers could truly immerse themselves in the intricate fabrics and be able to envisage their chosen textiles in situ.
The interiors follow a warm and quintessentially traditional British design with a colour palette of forest greens, rustic beiges and unlacquered brass. Studio Indigo aimed to create a timeless look that would age beautifully, just as the fabrics do. The basement provides a contemporary contrast with a backdrop of concrete flooring and crittall doors to let their antique furniture collection speak for itself. There is a feature kitchenette with a wine dispenser and refreshments for customers, perfect for parties and clients
"The new showroom beautifully
creates an environment in terms
of looks and quality which
reflects the type of work we
undertake, something which is
incredibly valuable for clients"
