Studio Indigo are delighted to announce that Ven (Somerset Estate Project) won a Highly Commended Certificate at the Georgian Group Architectural Awards 2019.
The awards, which are now in the 16th year and sponsored by Savills, celebrate those who have demonstrated the vision and commitment to restore and create Georgian Buildings and landscapes across the United Kingdom. We were therefore very proud to see not only one project but two of our projects, Ven and Wimbledon House, shortlisted amongst an impressive list of prestigious projects, including Chettle House in Dorset and Pitzhanger Manor in London.
The ceremony was held on the 1st October at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in London and presented by John Goodall, Architectural Editor of Country Life.
Crispin Holborow Country Director of Savills Private Office and member of the judging panel says: “It is vital that we continue to recognise the time and skill that goes into restoring and safeguarding some of this country’s finest Georgian architecture. The projects shortlisted show that inventive and exciting solutions can be found to make properties suitable for modern day living in keeping with and without despoiling beautiful Georgian architecture. The shortlisted schemes this year vary from contemporary buildings to erudite and exact restorations, as well as clever new uses for historic buildings, there really is something for everyone.”
John Goodall, Architectural Editor at Country Life, says: “It has been inspiring to see such a variety and quality of submissions this year. The Georgian Group Awards are a vital means of recognising a whole sphere of contemporary endeavour and achievement that might otherwise go unsung.”
We would like to extend our congratulations to all the winning projects and their architectural teams, as well as our team at Studio Indigo, B2 Architects and Ken Biggs Contractors who worked tirelessly to help refurbish and conserve Ven to its original historical heritage.
