The initial challenge was to seamlessly integrate the two ‘halves’, the second was to create a home which would allow the client to start a new chapter in her life. As the client had many others homes, this was to become a ‘summer house’, filled with light and orientated towards the wonderful west facing garden. The exotic and well-travelled client wanted a bright new home which would give both her inherited and collected furniture and art a new twist.
The new house has been re-planned around the larger of the original staircases, which now reaches all floors – massively improving the home’s flow, while also providing a focus. Light and colour are everywhere – perfectly suiting the cheerfulness of the client and her husband. The next chapter in their lives will hopefully be one of the best.
