We are searching for an experienced and passionate Mid-Weight Interior / FF&E Designer to assist in delivering projects across our luxury portfolio.
THE ROLE
The ideal candidate will have a refined aesthetic sensibility, a strong FF&E background, outstanding technical skills and a proven ability to deliver high-end interiors from concept to completion. They will also have a strength in interior architecture and good experience of FF&E. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, is detail-oriented, possesses the design skills to conceptualise their ideas and the leadership skills to guide a talented team. Experience in high-end residential is essential.

Studio Indigo is a leading luxury architecture and interior design practice based in Chelsea, London. Catering to the most discerning clients, the team of 50 specialise in curating personal and characterful spaces through an innovative, multi-disciplinary and bespoke approach. The studio is spearheaded by Founder and Creative Director Mike Fisher, and CEO James Kandutsch. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Role:
- Assist Interior Designers in developing designs for high end projects
- Ability to lead the design of a small to medium sized project
- Be a proactive team player on larger projects working closely with interior designers to ensure project is delivered holistically to tight deadlines
- Manage, mentor and develop junior FF&E designers
- Adhere to studio’s high design and presentation standards
- Build strong relationships with our clients, winning their trust and confidence throughout the creative process
Design and Project Management:
- Developing mood, concept and presentation boards using images/sketches/samples etc to best communicate ideas and suggestions.
- Assist Senior Designers and Directors in establishing project budgets
- Excellent knowledge for UK and International high-end suppliers and materials
- FF&E selection and specification
- Good eye for materials and fabric schemes
- Ensure that the furniture, fittings and equipment (FF&E) requirements on all projects are sourced, ordered and delivered on time and on budget and to client brief
- Producing technical drawings, elevations and 3D visualisations for interiors, joinery and furniture pieces.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings from architects and M&E consultants including furniture shop drawings
- Liaising with architects, consultants, specialists and suppliers
- Working collaboratively with the architecture team to ensure a coherent and coordinated project
- Co-ordinate and communicate well, particularly when dealing with other consultants and suppliers.
- In conjunction with their Director and Senior designer attend meetings with the Clients to review the design proposals at regular stages.
- Attend factory visits and supplier meetings.
- Assist the Project Architect / Leader with reviewing shop drawings and contractor submittals.
- Prepare spreadsheets outlining all costs and gain approval from FF&E Director and Account Manager
- Liaise with Director and Accounts department to ensure all costs budgets are approved
- Oversee purchase orders, specification sheets and control books for all requirements.
- Negotiate, co-ordinate and liaise with suppliers to ensure that all specifications and deliveries are being met on time and on budget and to the best possible quality to meet standards.
- Generate solutions and alternatives as problems arise and seek approval from designers and client
- Excellent organisational and time management skills and ability to manage at least two projects at a time
Networking:
- Ambassador for the Studio, promoting studio work and experience
- Attending industry events including high-profile events
- Nurturing relationships with suppliers
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
- Experience on working on fast paced, short- and long-term projects
- Excellent design and space planning abilities
- Great eye for design and attention to detail
- Demonstrate experience with design detailing and specifications
- Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign and EstiPC is essential.
- Proven experience in project management (Budgeting, scheduling etc.)
- 4-6 years of working in FF&E/design preferably on bespoke projects
- A good understanding of current trends and experience of working in key luxury interior markets/sectors ( retail, lifestyle bar restaurant or hotel, understanding high-end residential projects is a must
