Studio Indigo Walks 2790km for Charity
Walk the Orient Express for Solidarity Sport
As we find ourselves once again stuck in a virtual world, bound by the third national lockdown, Studio Indigo has pledged to walk (or run!) the length of the Orient Express to help our team stay together whilst being apart. Virtually starting in Paris and visiting Strasbourg, Munich, Vienna, Budapest, Bucharest and finally stopping in Istanbul.
Our challenge began with our London 2 Paris walk in January which encouraged our team to exercise and get some much-needed fresh air as we work from our remote offices. It was a great source of fun and team bonding as well as ensuring we stayed healthy both physically and most importantly, mentally.
As we smashed our target within a week and a half, we have pledged to walk a further 2,790km in 4 weeks and make our efforts count by fundraising for Solidarity Sport – a small charity, based locally in Kensington & Chelsea, supporting children recovering from trauma and who are growing up in poverty.
Solidarity Sports believes that every child deservers happiness. They help vulnerable children suffering from severe trauma and facing huge economic and social barriers by providing a caring and nurturing environment for children based in North West London.
Starting out as an after-school club in 2007, they have grown to offer a wide range of activities including healthy eating, arts, educational group trips, mentoring and holidays in the UK and abroad. The glue that binds these programmes together is a commitment to creating a safe, open-minded, inclusive and loving environment, where we can play together and happy memories are made.
Since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, they have witnessed a surge of children falling into poverty and a growing need for their work in our community. Through partnerships with food banks, local businesses and their own fundraising, they have ensured their families have had regular access to fresh food throughout the crisis. Other support during the pandemic has included providing laptops to school-aged children with no access to digital devices, mentoring for very vulnerable children and delivering 5 weeks of activities during the Summer holidays.
So far, Studio Indigo has collectively walked 800km with just a little under 2,000km to go.
We all know the detrimental impact that COVID-19 has had on our communities, especially those living in poverty. Please support us by donating as little or as much as you can to help towards this great cause.
