Melbury Road is a mid-terrace house built in a pseudo Georgian style in the 1970’s. It is located in the heart of the historic ‘Arts and Crafts’ area of Holland Park. Although undistinguished externally the house hides a surprising and unexpected interior.

Crossing the threshold of the front door you enter into a three storey staircase hall, which is the heart of the home – it acts as entrance hall and party space – the client wanted to surprise and delight their guests.

On the ground floor a large lateral drawing room stretches across the rear of this wide house overlooking the landscaped garden. On the first floor a new master bedroom ensuite and dressing room has been created with further guest bedrooms above. The lower ground floor is the family space which opens onto the garden and a large double storey swimming pool. This basement pool space is flooded with light, achieved through the use of skylights which are both very dramatic and unexpected.

The quality of design and materials used reflects the clients desire to create a home that will entice their grandchildren to spend as much time with them as possible, especially enjoying the leisure facilities. Whilst the large entertaining areas reflects the lifestyle of this very glamorous and gregarious couple who are never happier than when spending time with their friends and family.
