Studio Indigo was commissioned to recreate a tired and dark, two bedroom, first floor apartment in SW5. The brief called for an art deco inspired pied-à-terre for an overseas client.

The existing property was structured in a long, thin, front-to-back manner and Studio Indigo’s proposal called for the internal restructuring to create a wide, lateral property, which takes advantage of the large, street-facing windows. The rear spaces were then redesigned into bedrooms to take advantage of the quietest part of the apartment, with views over the communal gardens.

Studio Indigo’s role involved interpreting the client’s very specific ideas and realising them in a liveable home. A strong collaboration was formed between the client and the team at Studio Indigo and an excellent example of this can be seen in the new fireplaces – the client presented an inspirational image, including a stone specification, and Studio Indigo recreated the details, sourced the marble from Italy – where the Fireplaces were crafted – and imported them to London. This proved to be a thoroughly rewarding process for all involved, creating a unique and personal feature for the client.
