Planning permission has been obtained to remodel and extend this typical London town house. The most significant change will be a new contemporary rear extension opening onto the rear garden. The internal layouts will be redesigned to maximise the width of the house and all the floors will be realigned to omit the spilt level which is so typical of these period homes.
Permission has also been granted for a terrace to the main roof, the only roof terrace of its kind on the street. Permission was granted following pre-planning discussions and careful consideration of access to the roof, in order to maintain a roofline in keeping with the site’s conservation area criteria. This has been achieved via a discrete low profile sliding rooflight, allowing access to the terrace when open and providing a skylight when closed bringing light throughout the house via the main stairwell.
