Planning Success – Darnley Terrace
Studio Indigo has recently gained planning permission on a Grade II listed house, dating back to the 19th century, in the Norland Conservation Area. This charming three-storey Georgian property has lost many of its original features by unsympathetic alterations and additions over time.
The property currently stands empty as a subdivided house due to the removal of the staircase. After years of neglect it is an exciting opportunity to restore the house back to a single family home and to bring back the character of the house.
Our proposal involves the restoration of the lost original aspects that have deteriorated over time and refurbishment all existing elements. This includes the restoration of the staircase by removing the unattractive first floor extension and also rebuilding the brick closet at the Upper Ground rear with a lightweight glass infill section. These changes aim to blend with the original features and are consistent with the neighbouring houses.
The extensive restoration is planned to start in October with the aim of transforming this rather unloved building back to a comfortable family home.
