Cantilevered Staircase Design

Studio Indigo have been undertaking a very exciting project in South Edwardes Square, a huge artists’ studio where the Queen once posed for her world-famous Annigoni portrait. This historical landmark was left abandoned for more than 10 years and was in desperate need of renovation due to the structural collapse of key elements, which left the rest of the building fabric teetering on the edge of collapse.

Studio Indigo obtained planning approval last year to retain the studio’s original external features but allowing for a more contemporary interior design and finish.

One of the key elements within the design is the main cantilevered staircase which will leave an everlasting impression as it moves you through the vast vertical spaces which this grand studio has to offer.

Concept design illustrations are used to not only to illustrate fitted joinery or furniture layouts, they are also used architecturally to reinforce an idea and illustrate details which are complex to clarify in two-dimensional form.
